Alfredo Vincenzo Aversa, 94, of Toronto, Ontario passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on April 7, 1930, in Locri, Calabria, Italy to Teresa and Giuseppe Aversa, Alfredo lived a life defined by his devotion to his family, his tireless work ethic, and his generous and stubborn nature.
After a youth spent in Italy, he emigrated to Canada in the 1950s, building a new life through perseverance and hard work. In 1985 he married Anna Vella, with the birth of their daughter Teresa following shortly thereafter. Alfredo served the Toronto Transit Commission for over 25 years before retiring at 70. His passions included watching soccer, playing cards, and planting and harvesting his beloved vegetable garden every summer. He took special pride in his cantina where he crafted homemade wine and traditional cold cuts, generously sharing these treasures with his loved ones.
His greatest joy was his family. Alfredo is survived by his daughter, Teresa; siblings Grace, Carmello and Nick; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends whom he cherished deeply.
