Amedeo Arena

Amedeo Arena, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, in Markham, Ontario, at the age of 86. Born on March 1, 1938, in the quaint town of Naro, Agrigento, Sicily, Amedeo's spirit was as vibrant as the lush gardens he so cherished.

His career as a dedicated butcher reflected his kind and compassionate nature, where he always ensured that those around him were well taken care of. Amedeo was known for his unwavering work ethic, often described as hard working and always keeping busy, traits that endeared him to many in his community.

Amedeo's life was richly woven with moments of joy and love. He shared a wonderful partnership with his cherished wife, Franca of 59 years, who stood by his side throughout their years together. Their love was a testament to the beautiful bond they shared, one that warmed the hearts of those who knew them. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Gero (Lori), Maurizio (Maria), and Davide (Carmelina), who inherit their father’s kind spirit and compassion. Amedeo took immense pride in his grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony, Vanessa, Massimo, Christian & Mia, always encouraging them to pursue their passions while instilling in them the values of hard work and kindness. Dear brother to Carmelina, Lina, Luigi & Palmina.

Outside of his devoted family life, Amedeo had a passion for vegetable gardening that was rivaled only by his appreciation for fine wine. He found tranquility walking through malls, where he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. These hobbies not only filled his days with joy but also allowed him to connect with his community and share his love of nature and conversation.

Amedeo's warmth and kindness will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and diligence that will continue to inspire his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on October 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre in Toronto, followed by a funeral service on October 8, 2024, at 10:00 am, also at the Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre. The final farewell will take place at Westminster Cemetery & Mausoleum at 10:45 am the same day.

Amedeo Arena’s life was a gift, and while his presence will be greatly missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
