Antonio (Tony) Bonanno, loved family man and hardworking carpenter, passed away at home on December 26, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on June 6, 1943, in Spezzano della Sila, Italy, Tony dedicated his life not only to his business, but to creating lasting memories with his family and friends. In 1962, he immigrated to Canada to build a better life.
Tony was blessed to share 55 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Maria. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. He was a proud father to his two daughters, Sandy (Michael) and Sonia (Matt), whose accomplishments and happiness were always sources of great joy for him. As a grandfather, Tony’s heart overflowed with pride and warmth for his grandchildren, Kathy, Isolde, and Aislin. Their smiles and laughter brightened his days and filled his life with purpose.
Beyond his role as a husband, father, and grandfather, Tony found solace and peace in the simplicity of life. He eagerly tended to his garden, growing vegetables that he was proud to share with his neighbours and family alike. He enjoyed watching the World Cup, always rooting for the Azzuri. Tony also enjoyed the card games that connected him to his Italian heritage.
Tony was a man who appreciated the little things—reading the newspaper during the evenings and on weekends, enjoying the scent of fresh soil after watering his plants, and spending treasured moments with his grandchildren. The warmth of his spirit and the kindness and generosity he extended to beloved family members was a testament to his character. He was always conscientious and principled. He leaves behind an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, Maria, his children, and grandchildren, who will forever hold him close in their hearts. He will also be profoundly missed by his siblings and extended family, who felt the depth of his love and support throughout their lives.
