Caterina Romano Spina

Caterina Romano Spina, the most gentle and kindest of souls, touched the lives of many with her love and warmth. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 16, 2024, in Mississauga, Ontario. Caterina was born on September 16,1953, in the small farming community of Boiano, Campobasso of Molise, Italy to her loving and ever-supportive parents, Michele and Annunziata Romano.

Caterina’s parents immigrated and moved their new family to Toronto, Canada. She grew up in the East end of the city, in Leslieville. Kathy, her preferred name, loved Toronto and this drew her to its oldest neighbourhoods, its many parks, and the beaches of Lake Ontario. Her love for music, especially The Beatles, was a passion. She spent much of her time listening to classic rock radio stations. Her deep appreciation for nature was evident to all who knew her. She spent many days walking the trails of city parks. She loved sitting on benches in Trinity Bellwoods Park, under its old-growth trees, happily people-watching. Kathy found joy in the simple things and always had a kind word and a listening ear for family and friends around her.
 
Kathy is survived by her loving daughter, Annette (Denny) and was a proud grandmother to Elena and Olivia. Devoted sister to Graziano (Lucy), Mary (Ferdinando) and Anna (Phil). Kathy's presence will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends as they remember her warm, sweet smile and the love she shared with them.

In the quiet moments, when we listen to her favorite songs or admire Nature’s beauty, may we feel Kathy's presence and remember the beautiful soul that she was. She may no longer walk beside us in life, but the love she shared during her time with us will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, Kathy.
