It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that the family of Dale Bradford Jessup announce his peaceful passing, after a valiant and courageous battle on June 3rd, 2024 at the age of 71 at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, in the arms of his wife and soulmate Joanne.
Dale was the beloved son of the late Murray and Emily Jessup. He was the eldest brother of Cindy (Brian), Terry (Angela), and Brian (Melinda) and uncle to Amanda and Matthew (Terry and Marlene) and Steven and Jeffrey (Cindy and Brian). Dale was also greatly loved and respected by many friends and colleagues including his biggest fan, his little toy Maltese Dexter.
Dale was born and raised in Whitney Ontario but grew up in Mississauga. He was very dedicated and entrepreneurial and had several careers in industries including the airlines, radio communications, F1 Motorsports events for Bridgestone and Transportation and Logistics. He continued working right through the COVID lockdown as an “essential worker” transporting critical goods between Canada and the US.
21 years ago, as fate would have it, Dale met and fell in love with Joanne. They were married by the Captain of the magnificent Royal Princess cruise ship as it sailed from Italy to France on August 24, 2013.
Dale loved to travel and he and Joanne enjoyed many trips together to all the places they loved including the Caribbean, Mexico, Las Vegas, Europe, Central America, the Florida Keys, and drives through the Rocky Mountains. Dale also loved boating and spent many happy hours with Joanne cruising Lake Ontario.
Together, Dale and Joanne adopted Dexter in 2014. Dale and Dexter had an unexplainable soul connection and Dexter would anxiously await Dale’s return from his work runs and start waiting by the door a half hour or so before Dale arrived home. We never did figure out how Dexter knew that his daddy would be home soon but Dale lived for those special greetings. Thankfully Dexter was allowed to visit Dale a week before he passed.
Dale will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
The Jessup family would like to thank all of the wonderful and compassionate doctors, nurses and medical personnel who cared for Dale during his long stay in hospital. We will be forever grateful for their efforts and their humanity.
In memory of Dale, and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.Saturday, June 8, 2024
