Domenico Luigi Rosso

Domenico Luigi Rosso, a beloved father, Nonno, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Toronto, Ontario, on February 20, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 19, 1931, in Cessalto, Treviso, Italy, born to proud parents, Umberto & Giuseppina, he was one of ten children. Domenico's vibrant spirit and infectious smile touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Maria.

With a formidable career as a butcher that spanned over six decades, Domenico was not only skilled but also passionate about his craft. He was known for his exceptional homemade sausages, capicollo, and prosciutto, which became staples of many family gatherings and celebrations. His dedication to his work was matched only by his sense of humor; he was a master of jokes, always managing to light up a room with his sarcastic grin.

Domenico proudly served in the Italian military as a paratrooper, an experience that showcased his bravery and resilience. After settling in Canada in 1956, he quickly became a part of the community, working at establishments such as Macelleria Gran Sasso, Siderno Meats, and Gasparro Meats, where his presence was felt and appreciated by customers and colleagues alike.

Outside of his work, Domenico found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished summers spent fishing at the cottage on Elbow Lake in Sudbury, Ontario and passionately followed soccer.

Above all, Domenico found joy in his family. He is survived by his loving children, Josie (Peter), and Umberto (Pina), as well as his grandchildren, Zachary (Laura) and Hannah. His legacy of warmth, humor, and love will live on through them and all the lives he has touched. He will be dearly missed by his caregivers, Evelyn & Lucy who took loving care of him and by many friends and family members, including his long time best friend, Joe Favretto, who was always there for him. 

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Domenico's life at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre, located at 5826 Bathurst St, Toronto, ON, where visitation will take place on February 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service in his honour will be held on February 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by entombment at Westminster Cemetery & Mausoleum at 10:45 AM.

 In the flourishing garden of life, Domenico was a blossoming rose, bringing beauty, joy, and laughter to all around him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
