Ernestina "Tina" Rea (Iafrate) born in Arpino, P. Frosinone Italy in 1928 to parents Valentino & Vittoria and beloved wife to the late Giuseppe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her adoring family at the age of 96. She was a kind and loving mother to four children, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "Nonna Rea". She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends who meant the world to her. She was a beautiful soul who will forever be remembered as a kind and caring woman who had a passion for cooking, baking, and most of all, taking care of her family.
Devoted mother to Silvana (Peter), Nick (Gloria), Valentino (Deborah) and Giuliana (Joseph).
Loving grandmother to Joey (Ingrid), Paolo (Joanne), Derek (Grace), Patrizia (Zubin), Victoria, Justin (Stephanie), Christopher, Natalie, Eric (Lori), Lisa (Justin), Daniella (Asim), Joshua (Sierra) and David.
Loving great-grandmother to Katarina, Cassandra (Yuri), Matthew, Nicolas, Philip, Luca, Bianca, Emma, Mikayla, Natassia, Peter, Sebastian, Victoria, Alessia, Marcus, Isa and Liam.
Ernestina will also be greatly missed by her sisters-in-law Tulia and Elena, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rosen & Sue, and all her caregivers, nurses, and PSW's over the years. A special thank you to her wonderful caregiver/friend Maria who took exceptional care of her for the last 3 years. To North York General Hospital, thank you for your compassion, care and support in her final days.
Nonna Rea was a precious gift from God who touched the lives of so many people. She will be greatly missed by all, but her memory will live in our hearts forever.

Diabetes CanadaVisitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Center (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Thursday May 2, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Trillium Chapel of Westminster on Friday May 3 with visitation from 9:30am until the commencement of the service at 11:00am. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery & Mausoleum.
