With heavy hearts and warm memories, we announce the passing of Filomena Romeo, a beloved dressmaker, who departed this world on February 5th, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on January 13th, 1931, Filomena lived a life filled with love, creativity, and a deep connection to her family and friends.
In her personal life, Filomena shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with her late husband, Maurizio, whose memory she cherished deeply. Filomena was blessed with a large and loving family, and she remained connected to her roots throughout her life. She was the beloved daughter of her late parents, Matteo and Concetta.
Filomena was the second of eight children. She was preceded in death by four of her siblings: Maria (late Rino), Felicetta (late Giovanni), Renzo, Antonietta (late Joe), and is survived by three sisters: Ida (Sam), Cora (Alberto), and Fausta (late Vanni). The love she shared with her siblings was a testament to the strong familial bonds that enriched her life.
Her legacy continues through her treasured nieces and nephews, including Giovanna, Concetta, Mariella, Norma, Jim, Mirella, Sandra, Melita, Tanya, Lisa, Johnny, Elena, Connie, Luisa, Simone, Martina, and the late Norma Fraccaro, along with their families. Filomena was a guiding light in their lives, offering kindness, support, and a warm smile.
Filomena’s pleasures in life included travelling, good food and great friends. She was adamant about practicing fitness and was a member of the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre for many, many years, where she faithfully participated in the aquafit classes with a small group of friends. She embraced the importance of daily walks and did so for as long as she could and when her health deteriorated, she relied on her stationary bike for daily exercise. Her other passion was being a member of the Fairbank Community Centre where she participated regularly in their activities, trips, celebrations and bingo games. She was an example for us all.
Her warmth and kindness touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She built deep and lasting connections, and her laughter could light up even the darkest of days. She was a beacon of support and love for her family and friends, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer thoughtful advice. She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and lovingly cherished.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of Filomena to Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer
