Francesco Cortese

Francesco Cortese, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away suddenly on November 1st, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on October 29, 1938, in Agropoli, Salerno, Italy, Francesco lived a life marked by both simple joys and profound love for his family.He emigrated to Canada in 1961 at the age of 22, where he reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Giuseppina.  

Francesco was a skilled tailor in his native Italy, where he honed his craft with dedication and precision. When he made the journey to Canada, he became known as a man who wore many hats, transitioning into various roles while always putting his family at the forefront of his heart and efforts. His passion for life extended beyond his career. 

Francesco found joy in fishing, relished the thrill of hunting, and treasured moments playing Italian card games with his beloved family. These cherished activities fostered connections and laughter, filling his home with warmth and affection. Above all, Francesco’s family was his pride and joy. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Giuseppina, and his cherished children, Gaetano (Silvia) and Leonardo (Connie). Proud Nonno to Francesco, Matteo, Marco and Anna. The bonds he nurtured with his grandchildren will echo through generations, as they carry forward the love he so generously bestowed upon them.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Francesco’s life. Visitation will be held on November 6, 2024, at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre in Toronto from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on November 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Westminster Cemetery & Mausoleum at 11:45 AM.

In these moments of remembrance, we honor Francesco Cortese, a man whose legacy is rich with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family.
