Geraldine Walsh

November 18, 1945 — December 27, 2024

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Geraldine Walsh. Geraldine passed peacefully and in comfort surrounded by her loving sons in Toronto.

Geraldine was born as the youngest daughter to James and Margaret Kettle in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Geraldine grew up in a large and loving family, and she enjoyed Irish dancing. In 1967, Geraldine married Gerard Walsh in Belfast before they settled in Canada to begin their life together. While raising her two sons at home, Geraldine also volunteered at local hospitals and schools. Geraldine joined OHA/Ontario Blue Cross in the early 1980s, where she continued to work until her retirement in 2005. During her retirement, Geraldine enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends, and explore new places.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband Gerard; her cherished parents James and Margaret; her fun-loving sisters Mary, Angela, Rita and Winnie as well as her younger brother Jim. Geraldine will be deeply missed by her devoted sons Michael and Stephen; her dear brother John; her adoring granddaughter Emma; and many loving nieces and nephews across Canada, the U.S., Scotland and Ireland. Geraldine’s kindness and warm personality will be greatly missed by all those that knew her.

A funeral mass for Geraldine will take place on Friday January 3, 2025 at 11:30 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church (75 Churchill Avenue, North York, M2N 1Y8). Prior to the mass, a one-hour visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 AM.

A private cremation will take place at a later date.
