Giuseppina Sgro, a kind and loving soul who brought warmth and joy to all those around her, has passed away at the age of 95. She was born in Italy on September 1, 1928, and left this world peacefully in the comfort of her own home on November 28, 2023, and is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, Nicola. Giuseppina, known lovingly as "Nonna," will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and care for her family and friends.
Giuseppina is survived by her loving children, John, Anna and Cathy (Angelo). Proud Nonna to her adoring grandchildren Nicholas (Melissa), Stefanie, Nick (Enza), Frank (Tania), Jerry Jr. (Anna), Vanessa (Franco), Salvatore (Cailie) and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a guiding light in their lives, providing them with wisdom, kindness, and unconditional love. Giuseppina's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of compassion and warmth will continue to inspire future generations.
Throughout her life, Giuseppina found great joy in pursuing various hobbies and interests. She had a talent for baking mouth-watering treats that could instantly lift anyone's spirits. Her delicious recipes will live on through the memories of those lucky enough to have tasted them. Giuseppina's culinary skills extended beyond baking, as she was also known for cooking flavourful meals that brought loved ones together around the table. She had a real love for anything sweet.
In addition to her passion for food, Giuseppina had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her beloved garden. She found peace amongst colorful blooms and took great pride in nurturing plants from seedlings to blossoming beauties. Her garden served as a reflection of her caring nature, always vibrant and full of life.
One of Giuseppina's most cherished pastimes was crocheting blankets for all her grandchildren. With each stitch woven with love and tenderness, these blankets became more than just keepsakes; they became symbols of the unbreakable bond shared between Nonna and her grandchildren. Wrapped in warmth, they will forever be reminded of their grandmother's love whenever they snuggle up under these handmade treasures.
To honour Giuseppina's memory, her family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer Society of Toronto. In doing so, we can continue her legacy of giving back and spreading love in our communities.
As we say goodbye to Giuseppina Sgro, let us remember her as the kind-hearted woman who always put others first. Her love knew no bounds, and her impact on those who knew her will forever be imprinted on their hearts. While the pain of this loss is undeniable, may we find solace in the knowledge that Nonna's spirit lives on through the memories we share and the love she instilled in all of us.
Rest peacefully now, dear Giuseppina. Your light continues to shine bright in our lives, guiding us with love from above.
