John (João) De Sousa, born on April 19, 1962, in Lisbon, Portugal, to Maria Augusta and Antonio De Sousa, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, in Brampton, Ontario, surrounded by his loving family. While his passing leaves a profound void, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he now be reunited with his cherished mother, Maria Augusta, and his twin brother, Mario.
John was a man of many talents and interests. Known for his craftsmanship as a welder and fitter, it was his vibrant spirit, infectious humor, and warmth that truly defined him. He was famous for his playful use of the phrase "Bah Humbug!". However, those who knew him best understood that behind this tough exterior, John loved the holidays and time spent with friends and family. Like his mother, he had a love for cooking and often prepared far more than necessary, knowing that food and laughter brought people together.
John had a deep connection to both the natural world and the mysteries of the supernatural. Whether he was camping, hunting, enjoying video games, or pondering the unknown forces of the universe, his curiosity knew no bounds. His supportive nature and tell-it-like-it-is attitude left a lasting impression on every life he touched.
John’s family, especially his beloved son, Kyle (Alicia), and his devoted sister, Rosie, are forever grateful for the time they shared, the lessons he imparted, and the happiness he brought into their lives. They will hold his memory close, knowing that his love will continue to guide them.
A visitation to honor John will take place on December 21, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre in North York, with a Funeral Service following at 10:30 AM. John’s final journey will lead him to Westminster Cemetery at 11:15 AM.
As we gather to celebrate John's life, we will remember his laughter, his warmth, and the profound impact he had on those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
