Mario Cortese

In loving memory of Mario Cortese, who peacefully passed away on December 20th, 2023, at the age of 80, surrounded by the care of Hospice Vaughan. Born on August 28, 1943, in Chiaravalle, Centrale, Catanzaro, Italy, Mario leaves behind a legacy of love and joy.

Mario has been reunited with his parents, Catarina and Giuseppe Cortese, as well as his brothers and sister. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, especially his cherished daughter Cathy (Robert) and his adored grandchildren Robert, Marcus, and Matteo.

Mario's life was a testament to love, kindness, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his family. Whether engaged in a card game, cheering on his favorite football team, or exploring new destinations, Mario found true happiness in the company of his grandchildren, family, and friends.

A legend in his own right, Mario Cortese will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, infectious sense of humor, and the countless smiles he brought to those around him. While he may no longer be with us physically, his memory will live on forever in our hearts.

May he rest in peace, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and enduring love.

Hospice Vaughan

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family welcomes you to come celebrate his life and share memories with them on Wednesday December 27 from 4-9pm. The Funeral Service will be held in the Trillium Chapel of Westminster on Thursday December 28 at 10:00 with entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
