Neva Jane Riches

NEVA JANE (MURRAY) RICHES 

March 8, 1931 - October 11, 2024 

Our beloved mom, grandma and nana passed away at Mississauga Trillium Hospital as a result of a massive stroke. Our family is heartbroken over this loss. She was 93 years of age. Predeceased by her parents (Olive and Leslie Murray) and her brothers (Lorne and Neil Murray). She leaves behind her children Judy Crosby (Dave), Donna Brown (Dennis) and Rob Riches (Donna); grandchildren Catherine, Robin, Jennifer, Alison, Lisa, Dana and Nevan; great grandchildren Lochlan, Bronwyn, Sam, Everly, Bennett and Emerson. 

Neva was born and raised in Toronto, moved to Montreal as a newlywed and later returned to Toronto as a single mom with 3 small children. She began a successful 27 year career at Sears Canada Headquarters in Toronto, retiring in 1991. A strong, single working mother raising 3 kids on her own, she was an inspiration to us all. 

Mom loved spending time with her family and we loved spending time with her. She was a true matriarch of our family. Always supportive, caring and engaged in our lives. She enjoyed music (especially bagpipes), travelling in the UK, reading and crosswords, spending time at her cottage in Wasaga Beach, and watching CFL games.

Mom was the heart of our family and will be missed forever. 

A private family burial has taken place at Westminster Cemetery in Toronto.
