Oh Hyun Sim will always be remembered as the most beautiful, gentle, kind, and generous soul. The fifth of seven children to the late Jung Gil Kwon and Sung Chun Lee, Oh Hyun was born on March 29, 1948 in Seoul, Korea. She married the love of her life, Ha Sup Sim, in 1972, and they bravely immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1974 to begin a new chapter in their lives. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Peter and Julee, and a loving Halmonie to her five grandchildren. Oh Hyun was a spiritual pillar for her family, always pointing them to Jesus. She was “Supermom” as she balanced her personal responsibilities with her profession as a Dental Technician. After a valiant battle with colon cancer, on May 4, 2024, Oh Hyun passed away, free from pain and suffering, and is now asleep in Jesus.
Oh Hyun’s life was characterized by simplicity and God centered purpose. The values that governed her life modeled Biblical principles that she held dear to her heart. She touched many lives by sharing her spiritual gifts of hospitality, selfless giving, unwavering faith in and love for God, and devotion to her Seventh-day Adventist church. Oh Hyun exhibited the fruits of the Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
Throughout her life, Oh Hyun displayed qualities of resilience, determination and a steadfast love for her family and friends. Her nurturing nature, and passion and talent for cooking brought joy to those who tasted it. Her contagious laugh and beautiful smile are imprinted in the minds of those who remember her. Her legacy lives on through the memories and impact she left on the lives of those she touched.
Surviving her loss are her husband, Ha Sup Sim; three sisters Oh Young Kwon, Oh In Kwon, and Oh Yung Kwon; two children, Peter Sim (Eunkyong Choi) and Julee Sim Ramiro; five grandchildren: Josephine, Emily and Noah Sim; Jalen and Jada Ramiro; and a host of other relatives and friends.
