Today, we gather to honour the extraordinary life of our beloved Rita. An Italian matriarch who graced this world for over 99 years. Rita was much more than a centenarian; she was living testament to a century of rich history, love and tradition. Her life was steeped in the warmth of Italian culture – a legacy of passion, resilience, and the kind of unconditional love that binds us all together.

Born into a modest family in the small village of Spezzano Della Sila, Calabria, Rita learned early on the values of hard work, generosity, and family unity. These virtues carried her through a lifetime of joys and challenges. Her hands, weathered by a decades of caring for loved ones and nurturing her home, told a story of sacrifice, strength, and unwavering spirit. She was the gentle heart of our family – a woman who taught us that life’s true treasures lie in the shared meals, laughter, and moments spent with family. Whether is was while preparing her legendary pasta sauce, or sharing stories of her youth, Rita infused every word with passion and sincerity. She believed in family. Even though she has left our lives, her legacy is not only measured in years but in the countless lives she touched. Though she has journeyed to her eternal rest, her spirit remains with us in every shared memory, every family tradition, and every act inspired by her life.

May we honour her memory by living with the same passion, resilience, and love that defined her life. Her everlasting light will continue to shine brightly in our hearts.

Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St, between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Wednesday March 26, 2025 from 10:00am until the commencement of the service at 11:30am. Entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
