It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosaria Belmonte, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She peacefully passed on August 7, 2024 leaving behind a life filled with love and joy for her family and friends. Rosaria is leaving behind her loving husband of 57 years. She was the proud mother of Carmen (Elisabeth), Claudio (Oxana), Joey (Elisabeth), and Johnny (Tonia). She was a cherished Nonna to Amanda (Johnathan), Rosanna (Steven), Francesco (Madison), Brianna(Joey), Matheos, Jacob and Jaxson. She was also great-grandmother to Nicholas.
Rosaria was born in Belmonte Calabro,Italy in 1947. In Italy was where her love story with Frank began. She came to Canada to meet her love and the rest is history. Together they created a life filled with love, joy and food. There is not one memory that anyone has that does not involve Rosaria and cooking and taking care of others. She found joy in cooking and being surrounded by family and friends. If she knew you liked something, she made it for you because she wanted to see you happy. She enjoyed teaching her skills to others, whether that be with baking, making suprasatta or making sauces, she was happy to pass along her knowledge of what she loved to do.
Her pride and joy however was her boys. If they were happy she was happy, they truly occupied her heart. However when she became a nonna her heart was filled beyond measure as each grandchild occupied every piece of that heart. Her smiles and love for them were endless. She was proud of each of them and watching them grow gave her all the joy she needed.
If we are asked to describe Rosaria in one word, the common word is force. She was a force because she loved hard, she cared for others hard, she cooked up a delicious storm and she was never scared to speak her mind. After a force is gone we are always left with tranquility. Rosaria is now at peace. She is reunited with her mother and together they are guiding her family on. Together they are watching over her loves. There are no words left to say except rest easy mom, we love you.
