With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ruth Calinsky Paz, who went home to be with the Lord on the morning of February 13, 2025 in Toronto Ontario, at the age of 86. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Ruth lived a life filled with adventure, love, and unwavering faith.
She was the beloved wife of Geraldo Paz De Almeida and a devoted mother to Solange (Carlos), Elaine (Pio), Adriano (Eyda), Daniel (Lucilene), Alexandre (Paula), and Irene (Mauro). She was a cherished grandmother to Carlos, Fabiana, Bruno, Joshua, Michaella, Filipe, Lucas, Ydrian, Nathan, Gabriella, and a loving great-grandmother to Myslahana, Heloisa, Leia, Lana, Livia, and Zacharaiah.
Ruth’s life was a lived demonstration of love, faith, and compassion, finding beauty in the simplest things. A gifted painter, chef, homemaker, and missionary, she used her talents to care for others, ensuring no one felt unseen or unloved. Sharing the love of Jesus was her greatest passion, whether through charity work or a simple kind word. Even as ALS took her ability to move and speak, her unwavering faith remained, and she continued to express love and prayer with just her eyes.
Ruth leaves behind a family who will deeply miss her but finds peace in knowing she is now in heaven, rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. Her legacy of unwavering love for God, devotion to family, and compassion for others is already being lived out by her loved ones and will be passed down to future generations, continuing to inspire and bless many.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:30 AM at Westminster Funeral Home in Toronto. The burial will take place at on the same day at 12:00 PM.
In honor of Ruth’s love for God and caring for others, please consider a donation instead of flowers. We suggest Living Bridges Ministries (a Registered Canadian Charity), led by her son Pr. Daniel Paz. This ministry is carrying on her legacy by building schools and community centers in Brazil to support those in need. Donations can be made via e-transfer to infolbmorg@gmail.com or speak to the family about alternative donation methods. Tax receipts will be provided.
Ruth’s kindness, strength, unity and faith will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
