Sabatino Piccioni

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Sabatino (Sam) Piccioni. Sam was born on November 21st, 1934, and died on Monday September 16th, 2024, at the age of 89. Sam spent his final evening sharing a meal, playing cards, and laughing with his close friends. 

 As with many immigrants of his generation, Sam moved to Canada from his native Italy in search of a better life. He married, had children, and worked hard to create a happy and prosperous future for his family.

 After the tragic death of Lidia, the mother of his two young daughters, Sam stayed the course for many years, enduring grief and loneliness to ensure that his daughters had all they needed. He remarried only once his daughters were old enough to care for themselves; something for which his daughters have always been grateful.

 During the last years of his life, he strengthened his bonds with his family, and set an example of kindness, generosity, and compassion. His family, at times, were overwhelmed at his capacity for good humor, strength, and even-temperedness. Due to these wonderful traits, he will always be remembered with love and respect.

 Sam was predeceased by Lidia, his beloved wife of 14 years. He remarried many years later to 

Maria, with whom he spent many happy years until her recent death. He was also predeceased by his mother Giulia, his father Ubaldo, his brothers Antonio and Alfredo, and his sister Filomena.

 Sam is survived by his children Julie and Silvana; his grandchildren Giancarlo (Tushna), Damiano (Claudette), Elena, and Sofia; his son-in-laws Mauro and Ivano; his loving friends Tony and Maria; and his dear youngest sibling Rosa.

 A visitation will be held at:

 A private interment will be held the following day.
