Santa Massullo

Santa Massullo (nee: Mastrodonato), passed away peacefully on September 22, 2024, in her 100th year. Loving mother to the late Mario (Evelina) and Ada (Nicola); devoted Nonna to grandchildren John (Lori), Anthony (Roselle), Mariella (Garth), and Cynthia (Sandro); and great-grandchildren Siera, Nicolas, Charleigh, Sebastian, Noah, Christian, Lucas and Samantha; and cherished sister to Rinaldo (Dawn) and Zia to nieces and nephews. 

Born on July 30, 1924, Santa reached the century milestone with a good life, filled with joy and sorrow. She lost her wonderful husband Giovanni more than twenty years ago after fifty-three years of marriage; and the immeasurable loss of her beloved son Mario, who was taken too soon. Santa remained a pillar of strength, grounded in faith, regularly attending church on Sundays. She found joy in cooking (best Gnocchi ever), knitting and crocheting, playing Italian card games, bowling (in her younger days), not to mention her love of sweets. Being an avid hockey fan - she was fortunate to have witnessed the last time the Leafs won the Stanely Cup in 1967. Due to health reasons, she left her home without complaint, but always reminisced fondly of ‘Knowland Drive’. She often recounted stories of ‘la masaria’ in Italy, working at a dry cleaner, and always claimed she was three years younger than her actual age! 

Her favourite song, Che Sera Sera sums up Santa’s approach to life. We will always be grateful for the length of time we had with her and will continue to be inspired by her tenacity and strength. Rest in peace Nonna until we meet again - your loving family.

 Visitation will be held at Westminster Funeral & Reception Centre (5826 Bathurst St. between Finch and Steeles on the west side), located on the grounds  of Westminster Cemetery, it is the first building on your left. The family will receive guests on Thursday September 26, 2024 at 10:00am until the commencement of the service at 11:00am with entombment to follow at Westminster Cemetery.
