Severino Cianni, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 6, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 26, 1937 in Cosenza, Italy, he lived a full life with no regrets. He was always active, clever, and quick-witted. The cherished memories of big family dinners, card games with friends, and his good-natured jokes will forever live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves behind a legacy within the hearts of his family, notably his devoted wife Maria Giuseppina, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage. They spent countless hours gardening together, preparing delicious food by hand, and enjoying each other’s company. Severino is survived by his son Frank and daughter-in-law Pina, who shared many joyous moments with him over the years. He raised Frank to be a friendly, intelligent, and resourceful man, just like himself. With Severino’s inventive and creative spirit, he showed Frank and Pina that there was nothing they couldn’t fix. Severino also cherished the lively energy of his granddaughters, Anna and Elisabeth. Nonno Sam played with them often, told jokes, and went on long walks around the neighbourhood. His granddaughters were the light of his later years, providing joy and companionship, and assuring that his legacy will continue to shine brightly. Severino will also be missed by his siblings, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and many friends who will forever remember his playful nature and thoughtful wisdom.
In his leisure time, Severino found joy in a variety of hobbies that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. He was an avid gardener, nurturing his plants and trees with the same care and attention he gave to his family. Severino enjoyed playing card games like scopa and briscola with his friends and sharing strategies and laughs around the table at the North Islington Seniors Club. He also immersed himself in the challenge of word search puzzles and outdoor activities like playing bocce and riding his bike. He will be remembered as a kind, selfless person who was involved in his community and volunteered as an usher at St. Roch's Church.
As we gather to honor Severino’s wonderful life, we are reminded of the imprint he has made on our hearts. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in our memories, and his love will remain a guiding light in our lives. Arrivederci Sam.
