In Loving Memory of Vilma A. Guevara November 10, 1959 – January 11, 2025

With hearts full of love and sadness, we share the news of Vilma A. Guevara’s passing on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on November 10, 1959, Vilma lived 65 vibrant years filled with optimism, kindness, and unwavering love.

Vilma’s life was a testament to strength and determination. She spent two memorable years living in France before moving to Canada, where she raised her son, Cesar, while working full-time as a project manager. Despite her demanding schedule, she pursued her education with passion, earning a certificate from Glendon College, a diploma from Seneca College and a Bachelor’s degree from York University. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she returned to school at the age of 60 to earn a diploma in Social Work, demonstrating her lifelong love of learning and her deep desire to help others.

Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds. Even as she battled cancer, she selflessly cared for her beloved mother, Yolanda, in her final years. Vilma’s devotion to her family was unconditional. She loved them fiercely, bringing joy and laughter to every gathering with her creativity and thoughtfulness—whether it was by crafting piñatas, organizing holiday Bingo games, or leading family Charades.

Vilma leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her son, Cesar; her devoted husband, Francisco; her mother, Yolanda; her honorary daughters, Val and Echo; her sister, Corina; her brothers, César, Rene, and Julio; and her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

She was a light in our lives and will be deeply missed. May her memory be a blessing, and may her incredible journey inspire us to live life with empathy, courage, and an open heart, just as she did.
